Excessive Littering Attracts Hungry Friends

Littering is a disgusting act that is very commonly performed in schools, theatres, malls, and even on the street. This nasty and impulsive act has even taken its toll on our school; wrappers, bottles, napkins, forks—every little piece of what should be garbage has piled up to form the unsanitary image that littering has given our campus.

Lately, the garbage around campus has brought along some of nature’s leftover-eating creatures: seagulls. Because of our school’s excessive littering, seagulls and even pigeons have made Northview their new lunch hot spot. It’s as if our school is some buffet for birds! For the most part, pigeons and seagulls are very unsanitary creatures that carry numerous amounts of diseases. Plus, this problem has students running under shelter to avoid being pooped on. The little annoyances these critters create are caused by one major problem this school has had for a long while: littering. This nasty truth is proven every day after lunch time, when the scavengers pick at the loads of trash laying around campus.

“It’s really disgusting,” says 10th grader Lauren Santana. “I hate seagulls and pigeons! I think they’re disgusting and dirty! And whenever they come flying around, I always see people run because they are afraid that they will poop on them. It’s all because of the food trash lying around! Our campus is so dirty!”

Our campus has been getting dirtier with the litterbugs and lazy people who just throw their trash on the ground. If Northview has any intention of getting rid of these filthy creatures, everyone must help out and throw away trash. Not only will it make our campus look more presentable, but it will get rid of pooping seagulls and pigeons for good.
