Everyone here at Northview has been eagerly awaiting the completion of our new gym and weight room. Construction began in the end of the 2007-2008 school year and it has been dragging on ever since.
Without these two, our school is deprived of two of its most important buildings; the gym is where we hold our rallies and assemblies, not to mention its role as the place where we convene for athletic competitions, while the weight room gives our athletes a spacious and comfortable environment to work out in.
“Everyone is cramped inside the P building—where all the equipment has been moved to while the new weight room is finished—there is no space to move around freely,” said 12th grader Joseph Saucedo.
Although our new makeshift weight room is not shabby by any means, it does lack the space and luster that the real weight room has.
“I can’t wait until the new weight room is finished so we can finally use all of the equipment, like the leg press, that we don’t have in the temporary one,” Alan Takahata, 11th.
It seems that the problem is not the construction of the buildings, but rather the air conditioning systems.
“There are some legal problems with the company that was supposed to install the AC on both the gym and weight room,” said Principal Sims. “But since our district is not willing to enter a legal battle there’s nothing we can do for now.” |
